Hey Everyone, My name is Hannah Huff and I am a Theatre Artist at THEE Duke Ellington School of the Arts and we NEED your help. The Theatre program is having a few financial issues and as a collective my Theater family and I have to raise $ 75,000 in order to be able to continue the Duke Ellington Theatre Program and maintain our substance. However, my personal financial goal is $5,000 that I am praying to raise. DESA is more than just a school; This school is LEGACY. Peggy Cooper Cafritz and Mike Malone built this program from the bottom. As a theatre artist at DESA, we have academics for 5 hours/Arts for 5 hours and that just shows you how we are not the average high school students; we are what I like to think as "The Ultimate Committed Beast". Well, where is the money that I am donating going to towards? Great Question! As a boneified Actor in Training at DESA, We have the top Theatre Educators in the Nation who teach us EVERYTHING we need to know as actors in our four years of training, also who give us experiences that better our acting and make us "woke" actors. We take yearly trips to New York City to see plays on broadway, speak with the cast, take masterclasses, and way more.  DESA means EVERYTHING to me and I simply cannot lose my slot in this program. My dream is to become one of the GREATS in the Theatre Industry and I need Duke especially now in my most vulnerable years. This is a great opportunity for my career; at this school I learn Theatre History, Intro to Theatre, Dance, Movement, Speech, Acting, and we also have many opportunities to make connections with professionals in the field, writers, directors and way more. We have the opportunity to learn from the best theatre educators in the nation and on top of that we learn in New York, London and way more places. Theatre is my way of breathing. Acting is healing and with no theatre there is no healing. As a actor, we have a duty to touch people through our craft. We're thankful for all donations!
